Dr. Karolis Gudas is an attorney-at-law with extensive expertise in diverse legal areas, including dispute resolution, energy and environment, infrastructure development and construction, state aid and finance. He has exceptional track record in leading some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in the Baltic States, from land acquisition, territorial planning, permitting, construction to financing, regulatory, competition and state aid matters.
Karolis has taken a prime role in representing clients in complex disputes, with a total value reaching above 1 billion EUR. Particularly, he has represented clients in international disputes before the national courts of Lithuania and Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as under the rules of international arbitration bodies such as ICC (Paris), SCC (Stockholm), FIA (Finland), FTC (Serbia), VCA (Vilnius).
Karolis experience includes working on issues related to multiple jurisdictions, including Lithuanian, Icelandic, English, Estonian, and Swiss. Throughout his career, he has represented a broad range of companies, such as Rail Baltica (RB Rail AS), Hafner, IFE Eriksen, Ignitis (VKJ, Litgas, Ignitis gamyba), Radio and television Centre of Lithuania, Baltic – American clinic, IPUKIS company group, UHB company group, etc.
Dr. Gudas is not only a legal expert but also a highly educated professional, holding a PhD from the World Trade Institute at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and postgraduate diplomas from King’s College, University of London, and Mykolas Romeris University. Karolis is a research fellow at the University of Cambridge, Centre for Energy, Environment and Natural Resource Governance.
